SUBJECT:
SAN ONOFRE GENERATING STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 -
PREOPERATIONAL MLONITORING PROGRAP By letter dated January 15, 1980, you advised the staff of your plans to terminate the San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3 preopera tional monitoring program in June, 1980. The specified reason was the com pletion of the program by having accumulated the required two years of base line data.
The staff has reviewed the data collected and believes that an adequate data base, by which the operational effects of Units 2 and 3 may be judged, has been established.. It is the staffl~ opinion that the data collected satisfiCss the preoperational monitoring requirement specified in condition 3.E.2 of Construction Permits CPPR-97 and CPPR-98; therefore, we have no objection to the termination of the preoperational monitoring program at the end of the two year period.
