On March 6, 1979, I informed the Board and parties of the applicants' application for a special nuclear material license for new fuel and, other material for use in conjuncti-on with San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station, Units 2 and 3. '1 also stated my understanding that no license had been issued at that time.
I have subsequently been advised that my understanding regarding the issuance of a special nuclear material license was in error. In fact, on January 2, 1979, the Commission issued License No. SNM-1844-to the applicants, under Docket No. 70-2882-, authorizing the possession of approximately 20 grams of U-235 in fission chambers. A copy of this license i~s enclosed for your information.
