REACTOR COOLANT PUMP TRIP METHODOLOGY, SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNITS 2 AND 3 (TAC NOS. 49691 and 49692)
In Generic Letter 86-06, the staff generically approved the Combustion Engineering Owners Group (CEOG) methodology for TMI Action Plan Item II.K.3.5, reactor coolant pump (RCP) trip, with the condition that plant-specific information be addressed. Our review of the San Onofre plant-specific information has determined that reactor safety has been significantly improved and that there are no major safety concerns at San Onofre Units 2 and 3.
We have completed our review of the San Onofre Units 2 and 3 RCP trip setpoint development and find it acceptable. This issue may be the subject of on-site verification.
