ACCEPTANCE OF THE OFFSITE DOSE CALCULATION MANUAL, REVISION 19, SAN ONOFRE NUCLEAR GENERATING STATION, UNIT NOS. 2 AND 3 (TAC NOS.
74359 AND 74360)
The enclosed Safety Evaluation with an attached Technical Evaluation Report prepared by the NRC's contractor, EG&G Idaho, provides the results of the staff and EG&G's review of the your Offsite Dose Calculation Manual (00CM) at San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station (SONGS), Unit Nos. 2 and 3.
The staff agrees with the contractor's statement that the SONGS 2 & 3 ODCM, revision 19, uses methods that are, in general, consistent with NRC guidelines, and is an acceptable interim reference. However, in the report, there are a number of discrepancies and suggestions, some typographical in nature and some dealing with technical issues. Since these questions involve refinements to a basically sound document, there is no need for immediate action.
Therefore, you should provide responses to the points raised in the Conclusions section of the report within nine months in revision 21 to the ODCM.
