SUBJECT:

VIRGIL C. SUMMER NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT NO.1 - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION CONCERNING REQUEST FOR RELIEF (TAC NO. MF1900)

Dear Mr. Gatlin:

By letter dated May 16,2013, "Request Relief from ASME Code Requirements in Virgil C.

Summer Nuclear Station (VCSNS) 4th Ten Year Inservice Inspection Interval," Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML13140A008, South Carolina Electric & Gas Company, requested relief from the inservice testing (1ST) pump and valve surveillance frequencies associated with the fourth 1ST interval. In order to complete the review, the NRC staff has determined that additional information is needed as follows:

For Relief Request RR-4-01, 1ST Pump and Valve Surveillance Requirements, is it your intent to adopt, as an alternative to the OM Code requirements, the exact wording of Code Case OMN-20, Inservice Test Frequency, as published in ASME OM-2012? The Relief Request RR-4-01 wording in the referenced letter is similar, but not exactly the same as OMN-20.

Please provide a response within 30 days of the issuance of this letter.

Sincerely io~Se~Manager Plant Licensing Branch 11-1 Division of Operating Reactor Licensing Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Docket No. 50-395 cc w/encl: Distribution via Listserv
