Supplement to Technical Specification Change TS-429 - Deletion of Low Pressure Coolant Injection Motor-Generator Sets for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 2 and 3

1. Letter from TVA to NRC, "Supplement to Technical Specification Change TS-429 - Deletion of Low Pressure Coolant Injection Motor-Generator Sets for Browns Ferry Nuclear Plant, Units 2 and 3," dated July 30, 2012 By letter dated July 30, 2012 (Reference 1), the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) submitted a supplement to a proposed Technical Specifications (TS) amendment to delete Browns Ferry Nuclear (BFN), Units 2 and 3, TS Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.5.1.12.

The TS changes contained in the reference 1 letter included the deletion of item 1 of TS 5.6.5b, "NEDE-2401 1-P-A, General Electric Standard Application for Reactor Fuel." Per teleconference on January 18, 2013, the NRC staff requested additional clarification to support the deletion of NEDE-2401 1. General Electric fuel is no longer used in BFN, Units 2 and 3. Therefore, TVA requested deletion of the reference to NEDE-24011 from the TS 5.6.5b because this methodology is no longer applicable to BFN, Units 2 and 3.

There are no new regulatory commitments in this license amendment request. If you should have any questions regarding this submittal, please contact Tom Hess at (423) 751-3487.
