San Onofre I just read that you will not be personally directing the commission that will decide the fate of San Onofre Power Plant. This is a critical decision that requires your direct attention. Leaving the decision to a commission headed by Arthur Howell does not seem correct. I read that he has been working closely with Edison at San Onofre for a long time. That means he has a cozy relationship with SONGS executives that will influence his judgement. I have seen first hand how governmental safety regulators have become buddies with amusement park executives. Independence is not maintained when a personal friendship exists. I think you need to bring in a leader who does not have an existing relationship with the people in charge of SONGS. Also, I hold you responsible for making a complete and thorough examination of all the data before making your decision. This decision and it's aftermath will have your name on it. Please do not gamble with the future of Southern California.
Another point, when will the NRC hold a meeting closer to Oceanside, Carlsbad or San Diego, cities that will be greatly affected by an accident at SONGS? It seems the meetings are held in locations strategically located to reduce the number of people able to attend.
