GRAND GULF NUCLEAR STATION SECURITY OFFICER LOCKOUT The NRC was notified that, as of 12:00 a.m. (C DT) on October 1, 2012, the labor contract between Grand Gulf Nuclear Station and its line Security Officers expired. The licensee has commenced a lockout. Replacement officers consisting of qualified Security Supervisors from other Entergy sites have been given site specific training at Grand Gulf and are being utilized to perform the duties of the officers affected by the lockout. The replacement officers officially took over the security watch duties at approximately 6:00 p.m. on September 30, 2012, and the transition occurred professionally and without incident. It is unclear how long the lockout will last. The NRC has reviewed the Entergy cont ingency plan and NRC Security Inspectors from the Region IV, Arlington, Texas, office are on site monitoring the situation.
The information presented herein has been discussed with the licensee and is current as of October 1, 2012, at 12:30 p.m. (CDT). The state of Mississippi has been informed. This preliminary notification is issued for information only.
