Wednesday, August 29, 2012 9:00 a.m. to 11 :00 a.m. EDT U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission One White Flint North 11555 Rockville Pike, Room 0-7B4 Rockville, Maryland Union Electric Company (the licensee) will meet with the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff to discuss its planned submittal of an amendment request for Callaway Plant, Unit 1, to revise Technical Specification 3.7.9, "Ultimate Heat Sink," to incorporate more restrictive limits for the minimum required ultimate heat sink retention pond level and temperature, as specified in Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.7.9.1 and SR 3.7.9.2, respectively.
This is a Category 1 public meeting. The public is invited to observe this meeting and will have one or more opportunities to communicate with the NRC after the business portion. but before the meeting is adjourned.

Licensee presentation and discussion on its planned amendment request to revise Technical Specification 3.7.9, "Ultimate Heat Sink," to incorporate more restrictive limits for the minimum required ultimate heat sink (UHS) retention pond level and temperature, as specified in Surveillance Requirement (SR) 3.7.9.1 and SR 3.7.9.2, respectively. A new/additional SR will be proposed, and proposed changes to the Final Safety Analysis Report will be included in the amendment application as well.
A presentation will be given to address various aspects of this planned amendment request. including the following:
Resolution of limiting single-failure issue identified for the UHS Basis for revised UHS retention pond temperature and level limits Changes to procedural control of cooling tower operation Operator actions (with time limits) credited for the above Use of GOTHIC 7.2(b) model for thermal performance analysis in support of proposed changes
