"On May 8, 2012, two (2) Green Sea Turtles were retrieved from the 2C circulating water pump intake trash rack. There were no visible signs of injury or abnormalities and the condition of the turtles indicate that their deaths were recent. Therefore, the lethal take has been attributed to plant operations. Notification to the North Carolina Sea Turtle Coordinator was completed at approximately 1940 EDT. This non-emergency notification is being made pursuant to 10CFR50.72(b)(2)(xi) due to the notification to NMFS."
"Follow-up from the North Carolina Sea Turtle Coordinator from the lethal turtle take reported from the Brunswick Plant on 5/7/2012 at 1417. The turtle from 5/7/2012 was initially identified and reported as a Kemp's Ridley Sea Turtle. Further picture identification by the North Carolina Sea Turtle Coordinator indicates that the correct species is a Green Sea Turtle.
"The NRC Resident Inspector has been notified."
