OF PUBLIC MEETING WITH THE CONNECTICUT NUCLEAR ENERGY ADVISORY COUNCIL (NEAC)
On Thursday, April 19, 2012, at 7:00 p.m., a public meeting was conducted at the Waterford Town Hall, Waterford, CT, between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and NEAC to discuss the implementation of the Reactor Oversight Process and to answer questions regarding Millstone Power Station (Millstone) performance for calendar year 2011.
A notice of the public meeting was issued on April 2, 2012, and was posted on the NRCs external (public) Web page. The meeting notice can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) with Accession No. ML12093A096.
ADAMS is accessible from the NRC web page at: http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Millstone for the period from January 1 through December 31, 2011, as documented in our letter dated March 5, 2012 (ADAMS Accession No. ML12061A240). As part of the meeting, the NRC provided NEAC with an overall assessment of plant performance and with specific information concerning selected inspection findings. Additional information relative to the NRC's annual assessment process and the safety performance of Millstone can be found on the NRC's web site at: www.nrc.gov/NRR/OVERSIGHT/ASSESS/index.html.
Members of the public attended the meeting and were offered the opportunity to question the NRC regarding Millstones performance and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations.
