NRC NAMES NEW RESIDENT INSPECTOR AT COOPER NUCLEAR STATION

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission has selected

Chris Henderson as the new resident inspector at the Cooper

Nuclear plant located 23 miles south of Nebraska City, Neb.

Chris Hendersons background and experience will

assist the NRC in carrying out its mission of protecting people

and the environment and ensuring the safe operation of nuclear

power plants, said NRC Region IV Administrator Elmo E.

Collins.

Henderson joined the Nuclear Regulatory Commission in February 2010 as a Reactor

Operations Engineer in the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation. He worked in the Division of

Inspection Regional Support where he qualified as Reactor Oversight Process Engineer. In June,

Henderson was selected to be a participant in the Resident Inspector Development Program in

Region IV where he worked as a Project Engineer in the Division of Reactor Projects.

Prior to joining the NRC, Henderson served in the U.S. Navy aboard the Los Angeles

class attack submarine USS Annapolis, based in Groton, Conn., and at Commander Submarine

Group Seven in Yokosuka, Japan. Henderson holds both a masters degree in Nuclear

Engineering and a bachelors degree in Nuclear Engineering from Kansas State University.

Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.

Henderson joins senior resident inspector Jeff Josey. They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at

the facility, conducting inspections and monitoring significant work projects.

The Cooper resident inspectors can be reached at: (402) 825-3371.
