No: IV-22-014 November 22, 2022 CONTACT: Victor Dricks, 610-337-5330 NRC Names New Senior Resident Inspector at the Cooper Nuclear Station The NRC has selected Kent Chambliss as the new senior resident inspector at the Cooper Nuclear Station in Brownville, Nebraska.
Chambliss joined the NRC in 2020 and has served as resident inspector at Cooper since August 2021. Prior to that, he served with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in Japan and Colorado and worked at the DUF6 Conversion Facility in Piketon, Ohio. Chambliss is a veteran of the U.S. Navy, where he served for nine years as a submarine officer.
Kents military experience onboard a nuclear submarine and at a fuel conversion facility gives him a broad base of knowledge to draw upon during his day-to-day activities. He has the kind of background and dedication to the NRC mission that will enable him to carefully monitor operations at the plant, for which he already is familiar, said NRC Region IV Administrator Scott Morris.
Each U.S. commercial nuclear power plant site has at least two NRC resident inspectors.
They serve as the agencys eyes and ears at the facility, conducting inspections, monitoring significant work projects, and interacting with plant workers and the public.
