Daily event status at Fort Calhoun - Monday, July 4 Happy Independence Day!
Fort Calhoun Flooding Status (changes from yesterday's report are in bold)
- 1. Reactor Status: Shutdown
- 2. Reactor is covered with > 23-ft of cooling water
- 3. Offsite power and Emergency Diesel Generators are available. Both vital buses are energized at this time.
- 4. Spent Fuel Pooling cooling is in service and protected.
- 5. Shutdown cooling is in service and protected
- 6. Current river level is 1006' 4" at Fort Calhoun Station (stable over last 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />).
- 7. Current Blair gauge level is 32.07 ft., which is a slightly higher in the last 24 hours2.777778e-4 days <br />0.00667 hours <br />3.968254e-5 weeks <br />9.132e-6 months <br />. Although NWS/USACE predictions are for a continued decrease in river level over the next 4 days, heavy rains throughout the plains over the weekend will add considerable flow to the river.
- 8. Early Sunday morning (June 26, 2011), one of the AquaDams that was protecting the plant ruptured.
The AquaDam was a backup (secondary) flood protection barrier. All primary barriers are intact and are providing adequate protection to the site. The station is on Offsite (345 kv) power. Water has not entered any vital equipment, and no personnel were injured. Water has equalized onsite, repair efforts are underway. This section of the AquaDam is expected to be replaced in the next two weeks.
- 10. The site has implemented procedures to protect power supplies and vital equipment. Water is onsite, and flood barriers are protecting vital equipment.
- 11. No release of radioactivity has occurred.

- 12. Fort Calhoun has declared a Notification of Unusual Event at 08:00 6/6/11.
- 13. Backup evacuation route onsite is inundated however the primary route onsite is passable and not expected to be affected.
- 14. Power was removed from siren 257 and 260 in.Pottawattamie Co. IA, which is just on the ýedge of the 10-mile EPZ south east of the lint.L Siren 75, 176 in Desoto National Wildlife Refuge have no power.
Currently the refuge is *osed due to flooding. Si ren i east of Fort Calhoun on county road.34.between Fort Calhoun and Boyer Chute Recreational Area, is without power. This area is closed due to flooding.
Power was removed to one additional siren in Washington County -
sirens 69 was removed from service due to flooding and may require route alerting for:any non-evacuated residents.: Power was removed from Siren 259. This siren is.located in Pottawattamie County on DeSoto. Trail, west of 110th street. County to verify evacuation route alerting capabili.ty if needed. Power has been, renemoved :from sirens 143 and 144 in Pottawattamie Co. IA due to flooding. This area has been:evacuated. and is not populated.
- 15. The Reception and Care Center in Fremonit is nhw official, replacin*
Bellevue. This has been planned for quite some time, but also provides us with greater protection for, the public* as no evacuation routes to that location are affected at this time.
- 16. At this time no known major evacuation routes are affe ted' without contingency actions. :.pla.nned.
Interstate 29 in both directions: from Exit 54A. (G Avenue)-to Exit 71 (1-680 exit): 1-680 road closed to traffic because of flooding. 1-680 is closed in both directions: from before Exit I 130th Street to Exit 62:
1-29; Old Mormon Bridge Road ---..road closed because of flooding. Highway 30 from Blair to Missouri Valley is re-opened; flood barrier work will restarton Tuesday, but cdes noLtimpact evacuation. routes.

- 1. When offsite evacuation routes are affected please contact emergency planning.
- 2. When the Blair Water plant is affected please contact emergency planning.
- 3. Authorized power outages that affect or could affect siren operability, please:contact emergency planning.
The river flow rate and level have been relatively lconstant at Blair NE. The Corp of Engineers is releasing Gavin's Point dam at 159,900 cubic feet per second(clis).
