The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Bulletin 2011-01, "Mitigating Strategies,"
dated May 1 1, 2011, to request each licensee to provide a comprehensive verification of their compliance with the regulatory requirements of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Section 50.54(hhx2). Addressees were required to provide two sets of responses to the NRC in accordance with 10 CFR 50.54(f). The first responses were due within 30 days of the date of the bulletin. By two letters dated June 9,2011, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) provided the responses for the Beaver Valley Power Station, Unit Nos. 1 and 2 (BVPS), the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS),
and the Perry Nuclear Power Plant (PNPP).
The second responses were due within 60 days after issuance of the bulletin. FENOC provided the responses by letter dated July 1 1, 2011.
By fetters dated November 29,2011 and November 30,2011, the NRC staff requested additional information regarding the FENOC 60-day responses to the bulletin.
Responses to the NRC staff's questions are provided in the attachments.
