Summary of May 18, 2011, Meeting with the Nuclear Energy Institute, Industry Representatives, and Licensees on Transitioning to National Fire Protection Association Standard 805, dated May 31, 2011 (ML111450665)

Dear Sir or Madam:

In accordance with Reference 1, and as approved by the Commission per Reference 2, Entergy Operations, Inc. (Entergy) commits to submit the License Amendment Requests (LARs) implementing 10 CFR 50.48(c) as follows:

Christopher J. Schwarz Vice President, Operations Arkansas Nuclear One Entergy Operations, Inc.

1448 S.R. 333 Russellville, AR 72802 Tel 479-858-3110

0CAN061102 Page 2 of 3 Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 1 (ANO-1)

August 31, 2012 Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit 2 (ANO-2)

March 30, 2012 In accordance with Reference 4, plants submitting the associated LAR beyond July 1 in a given calendar year (except 2011) are requested to provide justification for a post-July 1 submittal date. The need for the ANO-1 submittal to extend beyond July 1, 2012, is based on the following:

Entergy desires to refine the Fire Probabilistic Risk Assessment (PRA) model based on general lessons learned from the ANO-2 conversion, and optimize the options identified to lower fire risk for the overall plant.

Entergy desires to optimize resources by incorporating the ANO-2 modifications that are common to both units into the ANO-1 Fire PRA model. The ANO-2 modifications are currently under internal review and have not yet reached a stage that would support further development of the ANO-1 submittal.

This is a change to the schedule(s) submitted in Reference 3. The above submittal dates are considered by Entergy to be regulatory commitments.

Entergy requests that enforcement discretion be extended to correspond to the above submittal commitment dates. Per the enforcement discretion policy, once the requests are submitted, the enforcement discretion would then continue until the NRC dispositions the LARs, consistent with Reference 1.

Should you have any questions concerning this submittal, please contact Stephenie Pyle at 479-858-4710.

Sincerely, Original signed by Christopher J. Schwarz CJS/dbb
