CATAWBA NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1 AND 2, AND OCONEE NUCLEAR STATION, UNITS 1, 2, AND 3 - WITHDRAWAL OF AMENDMENT REQUESTS (TAC NOS. ME3999, ME4000 (CATAWBA), ME4001, ME4002 (MCGUIRE), ME4003, ME4004, AND ME4005 (OCONEE))
Dear Mr. Glover:
By letter dated April 26, 2010, Duke Energy Carolinas, LLC (Duke), applied for amendments to the Catawba Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, Renewed Facility Operating Licenses NPF-35 and NPF-52, the McGuire Nuclear Station, Units 1 and 2, Renewed Facility Operating Licenses NPF-9 and NPF-17, and the Oconee Nuclear Station, Units 1,2, and 3, Renewed Facility Operating Licenses DPR-38, DPR-47, and DPR-55. The proposed change would have modified the facility technical specifications pertaining to organizational changes. Subsequently, Duke determined that it would not pursue this issue; and in a telephone conversation on March 28, 2011, between Mr. Jeffery Thomas of Duke's staff and I, Mr. Thomas explained that Duke planned to withdraw the amendment.
Unless Duke notifies us that we are incorrect by April 25, 2011, we will consider the application as withdrawn and will file a Notice of Withdrawal of Application for Amendment to Renewed Facility Operating Licenses NPF-35 and NPF-52; NPF-9 and NPF-17; and DPR-38, DPR-47, and DPR-55 with the Office of the Federal Register for publication and close this action.
