Response to U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) Request for Additional Information Regarding Environmental Review (TAC No. MD8203)
The purpose of this letter is to provide a report entitled, Hydrothermal Effects on the Ichthyoplankton from the Watts Bar Nuclear Plant Supplemental Condenser Cooling Water Outfall in Upper Chickamauga Reservoir, and Appendix A to this report which contains supporting data. As discussed in Reference 1 Question AE-7, TVA is conducting additional preoperational aquatic monitoring during 2010-2011 in the Watts Bar and Chickamauga Reservoirs in the vicinity of Watts Bar Nuclear Plant. The enclosed report presents the results of hydrothermal and larval fish surveys conducted in May and August 2010 in relation to potential effects to ichthyoplankton from exposure to the Supplemental Condenser Cooling Water discharge thermal plume during periods of no generation by Watts Bar Dam.
