FitzPatrick, ME3786, Follow-up RAIs re: amendment request for MCPR The followings are the DRAFT follow-up RAIs based on the NRC staff review of the licensees responses to staff RAIs, dated July 28, 2010.
Further clarification to the licensee responses to the following questions is needed to complete the staff review of FitzPatrick Cycle 20 SLMCPR LAR:
- 1. RAI-01
- a. Please describe the process for selecting those Cycle 19 fuel assemblies that will be thrice -burned in Cycle 20. Also, identify those Cycle 19 fuel assemblies that are selected for thrice-burn in Cycle 20.
- b. Provide more details to describe how each of the identified inputs was used to determine the final core loading pattern for Cycle 20. Also provide a flow chart to show specific values/limit and to describe the inter-relationship among the inputs of
- cycle energy requirements, reactivity margins, discharge exposure limitations and other limits, desired control rod patterns, and minimize channel distortion.
- 2. RAI-04 Please identify specific GNF2 data points associated with the revised Figure 5 provided in the response.
- 3. RAI-05 Please identify any evaluation report to reach the conclusion that effect of GNF2 bent spacer wing to FitzPatrick Cycle 20 operation is minimum.
Please contact me set up a telephone call on Monday, August 9, 2010, in the morning, between the NRC staff and the licensee to ensure that the licensee clearly understands this request and also to obtain the firm commitment for the responses to this request.
