OF APRIL 19, 2010, ANNUAL ASSESSMENT MEETING WITH EXELON GENERATION COMPANY, LLC.
On April 19, from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm, an Annual Assessment Meeting was conducted at the Mount Nebo Methodist Church in Delta Pennsylvania, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and the Exelon Generation Company, LLC. (Exelon). The NRC requested the meeting with Exelon management to discuss the NRC=s assessment of the safety performance of the Peach Bottom Nuclear Power Station for the calendar year 2009.
The NRC presented and discussed its assessment of the safety performance of Peach Bottom for the period of January 1 through December 31, 2009. The NRC presentation included information on the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), and the results of NRC=s performance assessment for Peach Bottom. As part of this regulatory performance meeting, Exelon presented its perspective regarding the plant=s performance during 2009 and operational goals for 2010.
The public was invited to observe this meeting. At the end of the meeting between the NRC and Exelon, public attendees were offered the opportunity to communicate with the NRC regarding Exelon=s performance at Peach Bottom and the role of the agency in ensuring safe plant operations. Questions from the public were addressed by the NRC.
