First Meeting: 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (as necessary)

Second Meeting: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (as necessary)

LOCATION: Embassy Suites Hotel 333 Madonna Road San Luis Obispo, CA 93405 CATEGORY 3*: These are Category 3 Meetings. The public is invited to participate in these meetings by providing comments.

PURPOSE: The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) received a license renewal application (LRA) from Pacific Gas & Electric Company, dated November 23, 2009, for the renewal of the operating licenses for the Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Plant, Units 1 and 2. The LRA is available at http://www.nrc.gov/reactors/operating/licensing/renewal/applications/

diablo-canyon.html and in the Agencywide Document and Management System under accession numbers ML093340086, ML093350335, ML093340116, and ML093340123.

These meetings are being conducted as part of the scoping process outlined in Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations Part 51 to support development of an environmental impact statement related to the LRA. See the enclosed Agenda and Federal Register notice (75 FR 4427).

Both meetings will be preceded by an informal open house beginning one hour prior to each meeting. The open house will provide members of the public with an opportunity to talk informally with NRC staff.

Members of the public may register to present oral comments at the meetings by contacting Mr. Drew Stuyvenberg, at 800-368-5642, ext.

4006, or by e-mail at Andrew.Stuyvenberg@nrc.gov by February 26, 2010. Those who wish to make comments may also register within 15 minutes of the start of each meeting. Individual oral comments may be limited by the time available, depending on the number of persons who register.

ACCOMMODATIONS: If special equipment or accommodations are needed at the public meeting, the need should be brought to the attention of the NRC contact listed above no later than February 24, 2010, to provide time for the NRC staff to accommodate the request.

PARTICIPANTS: Participants from the NRC include members of the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR).
