SUMMARY
OF TELEPHONE CONFERENCE ON JANUARY 6,2010, TO DISCUSS THE LICENSEE'S PROPOSED EMERGENCY ACTION LEVEL SCHEME CHANGE APPLICATION (TAC NO. ME2948)
On January 6,2010, members of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a telephone conference (telecon) with representatives from Energy Northwest (the licensee). The licensee was attended by a representative from its contractor, Operations Service Support, Inc.
(OSSI). The telecon was a Category 1 public meeting.
The telecon was requested by the licensee to discuss its intentions to request NRC approval to change its emergency action level scheme for Columbia Generating Station (CGS) from Nuclear Management and Resources Council, Inc.lNational Environmental Studies Project (NUMARC/NESP)-007 to Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) 99-01, Revision 5. The licensee currently intends to submit its application in February 2010.
The licensee presented a status of its application, an overview of the application contents, and its proposed implementation schedule. The licensee stated that it is proposing no deviations from NEI 99-01, Revision 5, and that there are no unique design features at CGS that would impact the submittal. The licensee stated that the application will be made pursuant to Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations (10 CFR) Part 50, Appendix E,Section IV.B(1).
The NRC staff provided comments for consideration by the licensee in the preparation of its application.
No regulatory decisions were made at the meeting. The meeting agenda was provided with the meeting notice (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML093570073). A list of attendees is enclosed.
