FORTHCOMING MEETING TO DISCUSS THE DRAFT SUPPLEMENTAL ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT STATEMENT FOR THE LICENSE RENEWAL OF DUANE ARNOLD ENERGY CENTER DATE AND TIME: Wednesday, March 31, 2010 (Two identical sessions)

First session: 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m. (as necessary)

Second session: 7:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. (as necessary)

LOCATION: Hiawatha City Hall 101 Emmons Street Hiawatha, IA 52233 CATEGORY 3:* This is a Category 3 Meeting. The public is invited to participate in this meeting by providing comments and asking questions throughout the meeting.

PURPOSE: To meet with the public to receive comments on the draft Supplemental Environmental Impact Statement 42 (DSEIS) to the Generic Environmental Impact Statement for License Renewal of Nuclear Plants (NUREG-1437) for Duane Arnold Energy Center, issued in February 2010. The DSEIS is available on the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRC) Website at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/doc-collections/nuregs/staff/sr1437/supplement42/ and in the NRC publicly available Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS). The ADAMS Accession Number is ML100310027. See the enclosed agenda and Federal Register Notice 75 FR 6737.

B.Pham PURPOSE (Cont.): Both meetings will be preceded by an informal ?open house@ beginning one hour prior to each meeting. The open house will provide members of the public with an opportunity to talk informally with NRC staff.

Members of the public may register to present oral comments at these meetings by contacting Charles Eccleston at 1-800-368-5642, extension 8537, or by e-mail at Charles.Eccleston@nrc.gov, no later than March 24, 2010. Those who wish to make comments may also register within 15 minutes of the start of the meeting. Individual oral comments may be limited by the time available, depending on the number of persons who register.

If special equipment or accommodations are needed to attend or present information at the meeting, the need should be brought to the attention of Mr. Eccleston at 1-800-368-5642, extension 8537 or by e-mail at Charles.Eccleston@nrc.gov, no later than March 24, 2010, to provide the NRC staff adequate notice to determine whether the request can be accommodated.
