By letter dated August 27, 2009 (Reference 1), NRC transmitted a number of requests for additional information (RAIs) regarding the Union Electric Company (AmerenUE) response to Generic Letter (GL) 2004-02. The NRC requested a response to the RAIs prior to November 25, 2009. AmerenUE subsequently participated in a public meeting with the NRC on November 20, 2009 (per Reference
- 2) to discuss the RAIs. The meeting discussions focused on how the RAIs would be addressed and closed, as well as the fact that some would remain open due to issues to be resolved in the near future (2010).

ULNRC-05668 November 24, 2009 Page 2 Consequently, it was agreed during the November 20 meeting that AmerenUE's RAI responses would not be submitted to the NRC until after the open RAIs are resolved.
Per this agreement, AmerenUE hereby requests an extension be granted to delay the response to Reference 1 until 90 days after the open RAIs are resolved.
Enclosure I identifies the commitment made to the NRC by this letter. If you have any questions on this extension request, please contact me at (314) 225-1054, or Mr.
Scott Maglio at (573) 823-4970.
I declare under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct.
