INDIAN POINT NUCLEAR GENERATING UNIT NO.2 - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING RELIEF REQUEST RR-09 (TAC NO. ME1658)
Dear Sir or Madam:
By letter dated July 1,2009, Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (the licensee), submitted relief request (RR)-09 for Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) review and approval. The licensee requested to implement an alternative to the requirements of paragraph 50.55a(g)(6)(ii)(D)(3) of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations. The request pertains to inservice inspection (lSI) of the reactor vessel upper head nozzles at Indian Point Nuclear Generating Unit No.2. The duration of request is for the fourth 1O-year lSI interval which began March 1, 2007 and concludes April 3, 2016.
The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff is reviewing the submittal and has determined that additional information is needed to complete its review. The specific questions are found in the enclosed request for additional information (RAI). On August 11, 2009, the Entergy staff indicated that a response to the RAI would be provided within 45 days of the date of this letter.

- 1. Please provide your flaw analysis including your assumptions, specific methodology and results of the stress analysis performed for the subject nozzles, or provide references to previously submitted documents which contain the above information relevant to this submittal.
- 2. Discuss if the crack growth evaluation was based on the as-built weld geometry.
