Dear Mr. Burton:

This refers to the meeting conducted at our request at the Holly Springs Cultural Center on June 2, 2009, at 5:00 pm. The meeting's purpose was to discuss the NRC Reactor Oversight Process Annual Assessment of Shearon Harris Nuclear Plant Unit 1.

The topics discussed included the reactor oversight process, the NRCs action matrix and the performance of the Harris Nuclear Plant.

Enclosed are a list of attendees and the presentation handouts.

  • To license and regulate the nations civilian use of byproduct, source, and special nuclear materials to ensure adequate protection of public health and safety, promote the common defense and security, and protect the environment.

Nuclear materials are used in medicine for diagnosis and cancer treatment.
