RE: MD9348 Indian Point 2 station aux transformer oil pump Importance: High John I spoke to operations yesterday and they agreed to clarify our commitment. Our commitment and changes will be:
"During this extended outage time all activity in the switchyards will be closely monitored and controlled. There will be no elective switchyard work (Consolidated Edison will be contacted to assure they are not performing elective work in the switchyard) that could challenge the operability of the 13.8 kV offsite power supply. Per communication with NRC on 3-20-2009, this was clarified to note that the switchyard work includes the 138 kV power source and the 138 kV/13.8 kV transformers #1, 2 and 3. The portions of the switchyard owned by Con Edison will be protected by the IP agreement with them on protected equipment."
If this is acceptable to the reviewer then let me know if you want it formally and whether we need a call. It is almost impossible to get the right players together for a call. Their availability is always tentative.

MD9348 Indian Point 2 station aux transformer oil pump Steve, our reviewer has one final question on this amendment. He would like to know if the promise to not work in the substations while the transformer work is underway applies to the Buchanan 138 kv yard. In particular, he is looking for protection for the offsite power source back to a transmission level voltage (such as 138 kv). So the 138/13.8 kv transformers #1, 2, and 3 are of concern. We would like to have a phone call to discuss this, preferably by 3/18 (he is out 3/19 and 3/20). Please let me know what your availability is.
