SUBJECT:
ARKANSAS NUCLEAR ONE, UNIT NO. 2 - CORRECTION TO AMENDMENT NO. 282 RE: TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION TASK FORCE TSTF-490, REVISION 0, DELETION OF E BAR DEFINITION AND REVISION TO RCS SPECIFIC ACTIVITY (TAC NO. MD8312)
Dear Sir or Madam:
On September 8, 2008, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Amendment No. 282 to Facility Operating License No. NPF-6 for the Arkansas Nuclear One, Unit No. 2 (ANO-2). The amendment consisted of changes to the facility operating licenses and the Technical Specifications (TSs) in response to your application dated March 13, 2008.
The amendment replaced the current ANO-2 TS 3.4.8, RCS [reactor coolant system]
Specific Activity, limit on RCS gross specific activity with a new limit on RCS noble gas specific activity. The noble gas specific activity limit is now based on a new dose equivalent Xe-133 (DEX) definition that replaced the current E Bar average disintegration energy definition. In addition, the current dose equivalent I-131 (DEI) definition has been revised to allow the use of additional thyroid dose conversion factors (DCFs).
Due to an administrative error, the issued revised page 3/4 4-18 of the TSs did not reflect the fact that the page had been changed by Amendment No. 281. This administrative error only affected the historical amendment strikeouts that are at the bottom of the TS pages. This error did not impact Amendment No. 282 for ANO-2. The omission does not change the NRC staff conclusions regarding Amendment No. 282 for ANO-2. Enclosed is a corrected version of page 3/4 4-18. Please discard the associated page from the previous amendment and replace it with the enclosed page.
If you have any questions, please call me at 301-415-1445.
Sincerely,
/RA by Michael T. Markley for/
