Docket Nos.

50-260 50-328 50-296 50-390 50-391 BROWNS FERRY NUCLEAR PLANT (BFN) UNITS 1, 2 AND 3, SEQUOYAH NUCLEAR PLANT (SQN) UNITS 1 AND 2, AND WATTS BAR NUCLEAR PLANT (WBN) UNITS 1 AND 2 - NRC GENERIC LETTER (GL) 2008-01: MANAGING GAS ACCUMULATION IN EMERGENCY CORE COOLING, DECAY HEAT REMOVAL, AND CONTAINMENT SPRAY SYSTEMS, DATED JANUARY 11, 2008 - REVISED COMMITMENT

Reference:

(1) TVA's letter to NRC dated May 9, 2008, Initial Response to NRC GL 2008-01: Managing Gas Accumulation in Emergency Core Cooling, Decay Heat Removal, and Containment Spray Systems, Dated January 11,2008 (2) TVA's letter to NRC dated June 6, 2008, Revised Response to NRC GL 2008-01: Managing Gas Accumulation in Emergency Core Cooling, Decay Heat Removal, and Containment Spray Systems, Dated January 11, 2008 TVA provided responses to GL 2008-01 in the referenced letters.

This letter is provided to move forward TVA's schedule for completing walkdowns on BFN Unit 1 from the Cycle 8 refueling outage (RFO) to the Cycle 7 RFO.

This effectively revises in part, 3 commitments made in Reference 2 (above),, "List of BFN-Specific Commitments."

The revised BFN-Specific Commitment No. 2 now reads as follows:

1, U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Page 2 July 11, 2008 No. 2 Complete the detailed walkdowns of BFN Unit 1, 2 and 3 inaccessible piping sections of GL 2008-01 subject systems prior to startup for the listed-RFO for respective units (Unit 1, Cycle 7, Unit 2 Cycle 15 and Unit 3 Cycle 14).

Accordingly, the completion schedule for Commitment No. 3 is also revised to agree with Commitment No. 2 and reflect the new schedule as follows:

No. 3 Complete evaluations of GL 2008-01 subject systems using results of the detailed walkdowns of inaccessible piping sections and submit supplemental responses to NRC documenting completion of the walkdowns and any impact upon the GL 2008-01 response as a result of completed evaluation within 90 days following startup from the listed RFOs (Unit 1 Cycle 7, Unit 2 Cycle 15, Unit 3 Cycle 14).

In addition, Commitment No. 4 is revised to be in agreement with Commitment Nos. 2 and 3 and now reads as follows:

No. 4 Adverse conditions discovered during the next RFO will be entered into the Corrective Action Program and evaluated for applicability for the other 2 operating units (Units 2 and 3).

BFN-Specific Commitment No. 1 remains unchanged.

TVA believes that moving the completion of BFN Unit 1 walkdowns forward to the fall of 2008 during the Cycle 7 RFO will help TVA better understand BFN gas accumulation issues by the earliest practical date.
