OF MEETING HELD ON JANUARY 24, 2003, WITH EXELON GENERATION COMPANY, LLC TO DISCUSS THE LICENSE POWER LIMIT (TAC NO. MB7319)
On January 24, 2003, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff met with representatives of Exelon Generation Company, LLC (Exelon) in a closed meeting to discuss the licensed power level at Byron Station, Unit 1 (Byron 1). A list of attendees is included as an Enclosure.
Exelon requested the meeting in order to understand the basis for the NRC staff s letter of January 22, 2003, and to provide an initial response. At the meeting, Exelon discussed the background of the differences in measured power levels between Byron 1 and Braidwood 1.
They also described their efforts to understand the differences between the two plants and to assure themselves that all units were operating within their licensed power limits.
During the meeting, questions, in addition to those included in the January 22, 2003, letter, were raised and discussed. With the expanded question base that resulted from the meeting, Exelon and the NRC staff agreed on the additional items that would be addressed in the formal response to the January 22, 2003, letter.
At the end of the meeting, Exelon stated that a prompt formal response to the staffs letter would be forthcoming. By letter dated February 5, 2003, Exelon provided its response.
