September 14, 2007 Technical Specifications Task Force (TSTF) 11921 Rockville Pike, Suite 100 Rockville, MD 20852

SUBJECT:

ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW AND ESTABLISHMENT OF MILESTONE SCHEDULE FOR TSTF TRAVELER 446, REVISION 2, RISK INFORMED EVAL.

OF EXTENSIONS TO CONTAINMENT ISOLATION VALVE COMPLETION TIMES (WCAP-15791) DOCKET NO: PROJ0753 (TAC MD6031)

Dear Members of the TSTF:

By letter (ADAMS Accession Number ML071630408), dated June 12, 2007, you requested the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) to review, approve, and make available under the Consolidated Line Item Improvement Process (CLIIP), TSTF Traveler 446, Revision 2, Risk Informed Evaluation of Extensions to Containment Isolation Valve Completion Times (WCAP-15791).

Technical staff have completed a preliminary review of your submission and determined it to be sufficiently complete and an appropriate submission to initiate a more comprehensive review, consistent with your request. The scheduled milestones to make TSTF Traveler 446, Revision 2, available under the CLIIP are attached as an enclosure.

Should circumstances lead to anticipated or actual schedule slippage, the causing party should promptly inform and coordinate with the impacted party to reach a new agreement and publish an appropriately revised schedule. This is of particular importance in connection with TSTF response to NRC staff requests for additional information (RAIs) as failure to provide a timely responsive reply, in accordance with the agreed schedule, or to successfully negotiate a revised schedule, may result in termination of the review process and closure of the TAC. Early completion of any activity will not necessitate schedule revision. Schedule revisions will be published by letter similar to this and will remain in effect unless superseded by another published schedule. The current published schedule will be posted to the NRC Inspection Technical Specifications Branch (ITSB) web page.

Tim Kolb (301-415-1428; Email: tck@nrc.gov has been assigned as the Technical Specifications Branch (ITSB) project lead. Please contact Mr. Kolb in coordinating activities specific to this review. Matthew Hamm may also be contacted at (301) 415-1472 or meh1@nrc.gov in the event Mr. Kolb is unavailable or should you have questions or need further information in connection with the TSTF traveler review process or other ongoing TSTF traveler reviews.

Sincerely,

/RA/
