KEWAUNEE POWER STATION GENERIC LETTER 2003-01 : CONTROL ROOM HABITABILITY CHANGE IN SCHEDULE FOR SUBMITTING TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued Generic Letter (GL) 2003-01, "Control Room Habitability," on June 12, 2003. The Kewaunee Power Station (KPS) response (reference 2) committed to development of technical specification (TS) changes following the performance of a tracer gas test at KPS and contingent upon NRC approval of Technical Specification Task Force (TSTF)
Traveler TSTF-448, "Corrtrol Room Envelope Habitability." This commitment was subsequently modified in reference 4. to specify submission of the proposed changes to the KPS TS 180 days following NRC approval of TSTF-448. The availability of this technical specification improvement was published in the Federal Register on January 17, 2007 as part of the consolidated line item improvement process (CLI I P).
Based on the complexity of the changes needed to support adoption of TSTF-448 into Kewaunee Custom Technical Specifications, DEK has modified its schedule to submit TS changes based on TSTF-448. DEK commits to submit a license amendment request incorporating TSTF-448, Revision 3 by September 14, 2007.
This change in submission schedule has been previously discussed with the KPS Project Manager.
If you have any questions or require additional information, please feel free to contact Mr. Gerald Riste at 920-388-8424.
Very truly yours, Eugene S. Grecheck Vice President - Nuclear Support Services
