SUMMARY

OF JULY 9, 2007, SIREN MEETING WITH ENTERGY NUCLEAR OPERATIONS, INC.

On July 9, 2007 at 6:30 p.m., a meeting to discuss technical issues, testing and completion date for the new Emergency Notification System (ENS) with backup power was conducted at Colonial Terrace, Cortlandt Manor, New York, between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), State of New York, local Counties, and Entergy Nuclear Operations, Inc. (Entergy). Prior to the meeting, a posterboard session was held to provide an opportunity to meet with stakeholders one-on-one.

The issues discussed during the formal meeting were provided in a letter dated June 28, 2007, from the NRC to Entergy and can be found in ADAMS, with an accession number of ML071790153. ADAMS is accessible from the NRC Web site at http://www.nrc.gov/reading-rm/adams.html.

The slides used by the NRC and Entergy during the meeting are attached to this summary.

The NRC and Entergy presentations were followed by a question and answer period which lasted approximately one hour. The NRC staff also responded to questions raised by members of the local media. Feedback forms submitted by the public following the meeting will be evaluated.
