3/4 August 2005: Energy Policy Act directs NRC to require backup power for the siren system 3/4 January 31, 2006: NRC issues a Confirmatory Order requiring backup power by January 30, 2007 3/4 January 11, 2007: Entergy requests a relaxation of the Order until April 15, 2007, and NRC approves the relaxation request 8

Background (Continued) 3/4 April 13, 2007: Entergy requests a second extension until August 31, 2007, and the NRC denies the request 3/4 April 23, 2007: NRC issues Notice of Violation with $130,000 civil penalty for Entergys failure to meet the Order 3/4 May 23, 2007: Entergy replies to the Notice of Violation, committing to declaring the new siren system operable by August 24, 2007 3/4 January 2007 to Present: Entergy continues to ensure operability of the existing ANS 9
