FERMI UNIT 2 - REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION REGARDING PROPOSED LICENSE AMENDMENT TO EXTEND THE COMPLETION TIME FOR TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION 3.8.1 FOR AN INOPERABLE DIESEL GENERATOR (TAC NO. MD2618)
Dear Mr. Davis:
By letter to the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) dated July 12, 2006, as supplemented by letters date April 25, and May 23, 2007, Detroit Edison Company submitted a request to modify Conditions, required Actions and Completion Times associated with the inoperability of one or more emergency diesel generators in Technical Specification 3.8.1, for Fermi Unit 2.
The April 25, and May 23, letters, provided responses to NRC's requests for additional information regarding the risk-informed and deterministic portion of your submittal. The NRC staff is reviewing your submittal, and the supplemental information provided, and has determined that additional information is required to complete the review. The specific information requested is addressed in the enclosure to this letter. During a discussion with your staff on June 8, 2007, it was agreed that a response will be provided by June 21, 2007.
The NRC staff considers that timely responses to requests for additional information help ensure sufficient time is available for staff review and contribute toward the NRCs goal of efficient and effective use of staff resources. If circumstances result in the need to revise the requested response date, please contact me at (301) 415-4093.

ENCLOSURE REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST EMERGENCY DIESEL GENERATORS (EDGS) COMPLETION TIME EXTENSION DETROIT EDISON COMPANY FERMI UNIT 2 DOCKET NO. 50-341 By letter dated July 12, 2006, as supplemented by letters dated April 25, and May 23, 2007 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession Nos. ML062000325, ML071210491 and ML071500114, respectively), Detroit Edison Companys (DeCo) submitted a proposed amendment to the Technical Specifications (TS) for Fermi Unit 2. The proposed changes would modify Conditions, required Actions and Completion Times associated with the inoperability of one or more emergency diesel generators (EDGs) in TS 3.8.1. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff has determined that the following information is needed in order to complete its review:
Provide the reliability and availability of all the combustion turbine generators (CTG 11 units).
