SUMMARY

OF MAY 14, 2007, MEETING TO DISCUSS THE USE OF FIBER-REINFORCED POLYMER (FRP) AT OCONEE On May 14, 2007, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) met with Duke to discuss the use of FRP at Oconee to protect masonry walls from tornado-induced differential pressure.

At the beginning of the meeting, Duke provided a handout (available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System under accession number ML071360356). The handout was modified to reflect comments and agreements made during the meeting (ML071360351). Enclosed is a list of the attendees.

Duke stated that if the FRP license amendment request is not approved by July 2, 2007, it will impact the schedule for implementing the tornado-mitigation modifications. Duke stated that it will inform the NRC within 2 weeks as to when Duke can provide the additional information that the NRC requested.
