Gentlemen, As part of our product development and product verification process we recently performed flow testing of our Y-Pattern Welded Cover Piston Checks, '/" - 2" sizes. Regretfully we have concluded that the Cv value listed previously on the Velan Project Drawing was incorrect. Information contained below only applies to our Y-Pattern Welded Cover Piston Check, irrespective of connection (socket weld, butt weld or NPT) as well as material. As a result of discrepancies detected we will embark on a program to verify other valves using the like waterway profile. We anticipate being able to report our findings by the end of June 2007.
In order to facilitate your review of the Welded Cover Piston Check design only we are providing following reference table that lists applicable middle portion of the Velan Figure Number of valves in question.
Please note that a typical Velan figure number looks like XXX-YYYYY-ZZZZ, where the first three characters represent the connection type and size while the last 4 characters indicate body material and trim; these characters have no impact on this evaluation and therefore are not mentioned hereunder.

I VYWLAN Page 2 We do not have sufficient information concerning the specific system and function applicable to these Piston Check valves and therefore we cannot assess whether a substantial safety hazard exists as a result of a lower actual flow coefficient. We therefore request that you review the individual applications for the aforementioned Piston Check valves. Should you run across any application where the lower Cv will impact significantly the safe operation of the plant, please contact Velan Valve Corp. and we will work with you to find a solution.
