DAVIS-BESSE NUCLEAR POWER STATION, UNIT NO. 1 - MEASUREMENT UNCERTAINTY RECAPTURE POWER UPRATE APPLICATION (TAC NO. MD5240)
Dear Mr. Bezilla:
In a letter dated April 12, 2007, FirstEnergy Nuclear Operating Company (FENOC) submitted an application requesting to increase the licensed thermal power level for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station, Unit No. 1. The proposed amendment would increase the licensed core power level by approximately 1.63 percent to 2817 megawatts thermal with the installation of the Caldon Leading Edge Flow Measurement (LEFM) CheckPlusTM ultrasonic flow measurement system.
The purpose of this letter is to provide you with the results of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staffs acceptance review of the application. Based on the information contained in your application, as compared to Regulatory Issue Summary 2002-03, dated January 31, 2002, the NRC staff has determined that FENOC has provided the necessary information for the NRC staff to begin a detailed technical review.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 301-415-4037.
