SUMMARY

OF ANNUAL ASSESSMENT AND SCWE IMPROVEMENT UPDATE PUBLIC MEETING On April 23, 2007, at 7:00 p.m., a public meeting was conducted between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and Public Service Enterprise Group Nuclear, LLC (PSEG) at the Bridgeport Holiday Inn in Swedesboro, NJ. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the NRCs assessment of the safety performance at the Salem and Hope Creek Generating Stations for calendar year 2006 and to discuss PSEG actions to continue improvement in performance and equipment reliability.

The meeting was opened by Art Burritt, Chief, Projects Branch 3, Division of Reactor Projects, NRC Region I. He introduced the staff and initiated the NRC presentation, which included a summary of the NRCs Reactor Oversight Process (ROP) and national plant performance. The Salem Senior Resident Inspector and the Hope Creek Resident Inspector followed with a presentation of the NRCs assessment of the safety performance at Salem and Hope Creek Generating Stations for calendar year 2006. Mr. David Lew, Director, Division of Reactor Projects, also participated in the meeting and provided closing remarks.

PSEG senior management described improvements made in overall performance and equipment reliability and actions planned to move toward independent operations following the cancellation of the proposed merger between PSEG and Exelon. PSEG also responded to questions by NRC staff throughout the meeting. Approximately 40 people were in attendance.

After a short break, public attendees were offered the opportunity to ask questions of NRC officials. The meeting was adjourned at approximately 8:45 p.m.
