SUBJECT:
ACCEPTANCE FOR REVIEW OF PRESSURIZED WATER REACTOR OWNERS GROUP TOPICAL REPORT WCAP-16308-NP, 10 CFR 50.69 PILOT PROGRAM - CATEGORIZATION PROCESS - WOLF CREEK GENERATING STATION (TAC NO. MD4229)
Dear Mr. Bradley:
By letter dated September 25, 2006, the Nuclear Energy Institute submitted for U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff review Topical Report (TR) WCAP-16308-NP, 10 CFR 50.69 Pilot Program - Categorization Process - Wolf Creek Generating Station. The NRC staff has performed an acceptance review of TR WCAP-16308-NP. We have found that the material presented is sufficient to begin our comprehensive review. The NRC staff expects to issue its request for additional information by August 24, 2007, and issue its draft safety evaluation by June 26, 2008. The NRC staff estimates that the review will require approximately 700 staff hours including project management time. The review schedule milestones and estimated review costs were discussed and agreed upon in a telephone conference between yourself and Tanya Mensah on March 21, 2007.
In accordance with the letter dated December 26, 2006 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML063610018), the fee branch has waived the Section 170.21 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations fees associated with this TR review.
Sincerely,
/RA/
