Description:

The controls to prevent and monitor for corrosion of the drywell shell need to be assessed and strengthened. As a minimum, the following items require review: I ) collection of leakage from drains that would indicate leakage past the refueling bellows such that the leakage can be identified/quantified, 2) documentation of surveillance of drains on the 74 ft and -17 ft elevations, 3) controls to assure that the refueling bellows leakage detection line flow switch is tested and repaired as necessary prior to refueling outages, 4) controls to ensure that the need for additional inspections under the containment IWE program addressed if leakage into the air pocket is identified, and 5 ) modifications to the aging management program for the drywell shell considering the service life of the sealing compound (currently the compound used is not known) used above the sand cushion region.
