OF DECEMBER 4, 2006, CATEGORY 1 MEETING WITH CEG TO DISCUSS THE LICENSEES FORTHCOMING ALTERNATIVE SOURCE TERM (AST) LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST (LAR) FOR NMP1 (TAC NO.

On December 4, 2006, a public meeting was held between the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC), and representatives of CEG, for NMP1 at NRC Headquarters, One White Flint North, 11545 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD. The purpose of the meeting was to conduct a pre-application discussion of the licensees forthcoming AST LAR for NMP1, which is expected during December 2006. A list of attendees is provided as Enclosure 1.
CEG representatives and their consultant, Polestar Applied Technology, presented information (Enclosure 2) on the proposed LAR, including an NMP1 design overview, a brief discussion of the limiting design-basis accident analyses changes, suppression pool pH control, and planned Technical Specification changes associated with the LAR. The licensee stated that the forthcoming LAR is being submitted to satisfy a commitment made in the licensees response to Generic Letter 2003-01, Control Room Habitability, and that the LAR would be submitted in accordance with guidance contained in Regulatory Guide 1.183, Alternative Radiological Source Terms for Evaluating Design Basis Accidents at Nuclear Power Reactors. The licensee stated that mid-December 2006 is the target date for its proposed LAR submittal. No members of the public were in attendance.
