CL System 3.7.8 ACTIONS (continued)

CONDITION REQUIRED ACTION COMPLETION TIME E. Diesel driven CL pumps E. 1 Declare diesel driven CL Immediately stored fuel oil supply pumps inoperable.

< 17,000 gal.

OR Required Action and associated Completion Time of Condition D not met.

SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS SURVEILLANCE FREQUENCY SR 3.7.8.1 ------------------ NOTE ----------------

Isolation of CL flow to individual components does not render the CL System inoperable.

Verify each CL System manual, power operated, and 31 days automatic valve in the flow path servicing safety related equipment, that is not locked, sealed, or otherwise secured in position, is in the correct position.

SR 3.7.8.2 Verify each required diesel driven CL pump starts 31 days and assumes -load within one minute.

Prairie Island Unit 1 - Amendment No. 4-5-9 175 Units 1 and 2 3.7.8-4 Unit 2 - Amendment No. 449 165

CL System 3.7.8 SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS (continued)

SURVEILLANCE FREQUENCY SR 3.7.8.3 Verify stored diesel driven CL pumps fuel oil supply 31 days

> 19,500 gal.

SR 3.7.8.4 Verify OPERABILITY of required vertical motor 92 days driven CL pump.

SR 3.7.8.5 Verify each CL System automatic valve required to 24 months mitigate accidents that is not locked, sealed, or otherwise secured in position, actuates to the correct position on an actual or simulated actuation signal.

SR 3.7.8.6 Verify the required diesel driven and required 24 months vertical motor driven CL pumps start automatically on an actual or simulated actuation signal.

AC Sources-Operating 3.8.1 3.8 ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEMS 3.8.1 AC Sources-Operating LCO 3.8.1 The following AC electrical sources shall be OPERABLE:

a. Two paths between the offsite transmission grid and the onsite 4 kV Safeguards Distribution System; and
b. Two diesel generators (DGs) capable of supplying the onsite 4 kV Safeguards Distribution System.

APPLICABILITY: MODES 1, 2, 3, and 4.

ACTIONS

--------- NOTE ----------------------------

LCO 3.0.4.b is not applicable to DGs.

AC Sources-Operating 3.8.1 SURVEILLANCE REQUIREMENTS SURVEILLANCE FREQUENCY SR 3.8.1.1 Verify correct breaker alignment and indicated 7 days power availability for each required path.

SR 3.8.1.2 ------------------ NOTES ---------------

1. Performance of SR 3.8.1.6 satisfies this SR.
2. All DG starts may be preceded by an engine prelube period and followed by a warmup period prior to loading.
3. A modified DG start involving idling and gradual acceleration to synchronous speed may be used for this SR in consideration of manufacturer's recommendations. When modified start procedures are not used, the time, voltage, and frequency tolerances of SR 3.8.1.6 must be met.

Verify each DG starts from standby conditions and 31 days achieves steady state voltage > 3740 V and

< 4580 V, and frequency > 58.8 Hz and < 61.2 Hz.

SURVEILLANCE FREQUENCY SR 3.8.1.3 ---------------------- - NOTES ---------------

1. DG loadings may include gradual loading in consideration of manufacturer's recommendations.
2. Momentary transients outside the load range do not invalidate this test.
3. This Surveillance shall be conducted on only one DG at a time.
4. This SR shall be preceded by and immediately follow without shutdown a successful performance of SR 3.8.1.2 or SR 3.8.1.6.

Verify each DG is synchronized and loaded and 31 days operates for > 60 minutes at a load:

a. Unit 1; > 1650 kW; and
b. Unit 2; >5100 kW and < 5300 kW.

SR 3.8.1.4 Verify fuel oil level above lower limit switch in each 31 days day tank.

SR 3.8.1.5 Verify the fuel oil transfer system operates to transfer 31 days fuel oil from storage tank to the day tank.
