Dear Mr. Peterson:
By letters dated April 14, July 7, and August 22, 2005, Duke Energy Corporation, the licensee for McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 2, submitted information summarizing the steam generator tube inspections performed during the spring 2005, End of Cycle 16 refueling outage.
Upon review of this information, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff concluded that the licensee provided the information required by the Technical Specifications and that no additional follow-up was required. The NRC staffs evaluation is enclosed.

OF REVIEW BY THE OFFICE OF NUCLEAR REACTOR REGULATION RELATED TO THE STEAM GENERATOR TUBE INSPECTION REPORT FOR THE END OF CYCLE 16 REFUELING OUTAGE DUKE ENERGY CORPORATION MCGUIRE NUCLEAR STATION, UNIT 2 DOCKET NO. 50-370 By letters dated April 14 and July 7, 2005 (Agencywide Documents Access Management System (ADAMS) Accession Nos. ML051160271 and ML052020050) Duke Energy Corporation, the licensee, submitted information pertaining to the steam generator tube inspections performed in the spring 2005, End of Cycle 16 outage at McGuire Nuclear Station, Unit 2. The licensee submitted these reports in accordance with Technical Specifications (TSs) 5.6.8.a and 5.6.8.b, and pursuant to American Society of Mechanical Engineers,Section XI, Paragraph IWA-6230. The Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff required additional information in order to complete the review. The licensee responded to the NRC staffs request for additional information related to the above submittals in a letter dated August 22, 2005 (ADAMS Accession No. ML052420484).
The licensee provided the scope, extent, methods and results of their steam generator tube inspections in the documents referenced above. In addition, the licensee described corrective actions (i.e., tube plugging or repair) taken in response to the inspection findings.
Based on a review of the information provided, the NRC staff concludes that the licensee provided the information required by their TSs. In addition, the NRC staff concludes that there are no technical issues that warrant follow-up action at this time, since the inspections appear to be consistent with the objective of detecting potential tube degradation and the inspection results appear to be consistent with industry operating experience at similarly designed and operated units.
