Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Firstung yd 5501 North State Route 2 Oak Harbor Ohio 43449-9760 September 13, 2005 Docket Number 50-346 License Number NPF-3 Serial Number 3192 United States Nuclear Regulatory Commission Document Control Desk Washington, D.C. 20555-0001 Monthly Operating Report, August 2005 Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station Unit 1 Ladies and Gentlemen:

Enclosed is a copy of the Monthly Operating Report for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station for the month of August 2005.

On August 16, 2005, the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued License Amendment Number 267 for the Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station (DBNPS). License Amendment Number 267 deleted the Technical Specification 6.9.1.6 requirement to submit the Monthly Operating Report. The DBNPS implemented this License Amendment on August 31, 2005. Therefore, following this submittal (DBNPS letter Serial Number 3192),

the FirstEnergy Operating Company (FENOC) will no longer submit the DBNPS Monthly Operating Report.

As committed to in its application for the License Amendment (letter Serial Number 3080, dated February 22, 2005), the DBNPS will, in lieu of a Monthly Operating Report, provide operating data (for each calendar month) that is described in Generic Letter 97-02, "Revised Contents of the Monthly Operating Report," by the last day of the month following the end of each calendar quarter. This data will be provided via the industry's electronic Consolidated Data Entry Program.
