scope comments
Dear Sirs and Madams:
This comment on the scope of the Monticello EIS comes to you from the North American Water Office, which made extensive oral comments on the scope during the public meeting in Monticello. We presume those comments are on the record.
In addition, it has recently come to our attention that there are some age related component degradatage issues the EIS needs to address. Specifically, the potential of mounting base plates, grout, and/or mounting hardware for pumps, heat exchangers, compressors, tanks, turbines and motors to fail due to age-related degradation needs to be examined.
Further, valve stem and pump shaft packing and gasket material, and other sealing materials required to prevent system leakage to the environment where shafts penetrate through a pump casings, valve body/bonnets, and other components needs to be analyzed for age-related degradation.
Further, consumables such as lubrication media including oils and greases must be analyzed from the perspective of age-related degradation.
Finally, valve internals flow isolation sealing subcomponents such as valve discs, plugs, and/or gates must be analyzed from an aging management program perspective.
Thank you.
