OF TELECOMMUNICATION WITH NUCLEAR MANAGEMENT COMPANY, LLC (NMC) TO DISCUSS THE SEVERE ACCIDENT MITIGATION ALTERNATIVES (SAMA) REQUESTS FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION (RAIs)

FOR MONTICELLO NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT (TAC NO. MC6441)

On June 9, 2005, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and its contractor from Information Systems Laboratory (ISL) conducted a conference call (teleconference) with representatives from NMC to discuss the Monticello Nuclear Generating Plant (Monticello)

SAMA RAIs (ML051470339). The NRC staff formally sent the SAMA RAIs to NMC by letter dated May 27, 2005, in support of the environmental review of the application for license renewal for Monticello. The teleconference was held to clarify these RAIs. Enclosure 1 contains a listing of teleconference participants.

NMC asked questions about several of these RAIs, and the NRC staff provided information to help clarify those questions. No staff decisions were made during the telephone conference.

NMC plans to submit the responses to these RAIs by the end of this month.
