SUBJECT:
REVIEW OF APPLICATION FOR RELEASE OF PART OF SITE FOR UNRESTRICTED USE - R. E. GINNA NUCLEAR POWER PLANT (TAC NO. MC7062)
Dear Mrs. Korsnick:
In a letter dated May 20, 2005 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System Accession No. ML051530448), R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant, LLC (Ginna LLC) submitted an application, pursuant to Section 50.83 of Part 50 of Title 10 of the Code of Federal Regulations, for approval by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) of a proposed release of non-impacted land for unrestricted use at the R. E. Ginna Nuclear Power Plant.
The purpose of this letter is to provide the results of the NRC staffs initial acceptance review of the application, which is based on the determination that sufficient information was provided to allow the staff to proceed with its detailed technical review. The review also ensures that the application adequately characterizes the regulatory requirements and licensing basis of the plant. On the basis of its review of the information provided in the application, the NRC staff has determined that Ginna LLC has provided the necessary information for the staff to begin a detailed technical review. However, the NRC staff does expect to issue a letter in July 2005 requesting additional information to support its review.
If you have any questions, please contact me at 301-415-1457.
Sincerely,
/RA/
