Brunswick Site Audit Follow-Up Item #14 With regard to the Brunswick Environmental Report Site Audit Follow-Up List, response to Item #14 is as follows:

14. Evaluate NC Heritage database for Whiteville to Fayetteville 230 kV line and describe any T&E identifications. [provide to Amanda Stegen/Mike Sackschewsky] [Responsible individual: Robin Bryson]

We have reviewed the North Carolina and Federal threatened and endangered species information from the NC NHP database in Cumberland County and along the extended 230 kV transmission line corridor from Whiteville to Fayetteville.

For species known to occur within the Counties crossed by BSEP lines; by adding Cumberland County, ten additional State or Federal T&E species are identified. Of these, only two are federally-listed.

Scientific Name Common Name Federal Status State Status Retiles and Amphibians Crotalus adamanteus Eastern diamondback rattlesnake - E Micrurus fulvius Eastern coral snake - E Invertebrates Neonympha mitchellii francisci Saint Francis' Satyr E Plants Carex exilis Coastal sedge - T Eupatorium resinous Resinous (=Pine barrens) boneset T

Isotria medeoloides Small whorled pogonia T E Lilium pyrophilum Sandhills lily - E Lobelia boykinii Boykin's lobelia - T Pyxidanthera barbulata var brevifolia Sandhills pixie-moss E

Rhynchospora macra Southern white beaksedge - E Regarding State or Federal T&E species known to occur in vicinity of BSEP lines:

Three species were identified to be within 500' of the edge of the ROW in the Whiteville to Fayetteville section. Only one species not previously known within the vicinity of our ROWs was identified. This population of the Sandhills lily is located about 250' off the Cumberland-Fayetteville corridor in Cumberland County. Nothing we do in the ROW could possibly affect this plant species. The two other identified species in the added section, American alligator (Cumberland-Whiteville line) and rough-leaf loosestrife (Cumberland-Fayetteville line), were already on the list located in other sections of transmission line ROWs.

If you have further questions or need additional information, please let us know.
