Brunswick Site Audit Follow-Up Item #5 With regard to the Brunswick Environmental Report Site Audit Follow-Up List, response to Item # 5 is as follows:

5. Land Use Classifications:

Page 2-20 states "...categories are as follows:

Developed, Urban Transition, Limited Transition, Community, Rural, Conservation and Resource Management (or protection)."

Page E-26 states: "...has a land use classification of Industrial."

Explain which applies to BNP and what is different.

[provide to Paul Hendrickson] [Responsible individual:

Phil Moore, TtNUS]

Brunswick County's "basic" land classification system employs seven categories or classes: Developed, Urban Transition, Limited Transition, Community, Rural, Conservation and Resource Management (or protection).

See page 1-16 of the Brunswick County Land Use Plan. The Plan's description of these categories (pages 1-16 through 1-19 of the Land Use Plan) is slightly different, as it combines "Urban Transition" and "Limited Transition" into a single "Transition Areas" category.

Transition Areas are broken into four sub-categories: Town and Village Clusters, Highway-oriented Services, Industrial Areas, and Military Reservation. The Land Use Plan specifically mentions "the CP&L nuclear plant" as one of the land areas that falls into the Industrial sub-category, on page 1-17. In short, the Brunswick site is both a Transition area and an Industrial Area.
